The time when women began to fight for their rights.
The first observance of Women’s Day took place in 1909, in New York City. The strike was led by women who were fighting for better pay and working conditions. The Women’s Day observance was a way to recognize their efforts.
In 1910, Clara Zetkin proposed the idea of an International Women’s Day. It was at the second International Conference of Working Women in Copenhagen. The proposal was met with unanimous approval, and the first International Women’s Day was observed on March 19, 1911, in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland.
Today, Women’s Day is celebrated with marches, rallies, and events that focus on women’s empowerment and gender equality. It’s a day to honor the women who have fought for our rights and to inspire future generations to continue the fight. We still have a long way to go in achieving true gender equality.
